Description
During the tour you will get to see the breathtaking pieces of architecture in a style that started to flourish towards the end of the 1900’s. In merely 20 years numerous masterpieces were constructed according to the various branches of the Secessionist Movement present in Europe. Viennese Secession, Jugendstil, French and Belgian Art Nouveau and finally for the first time, a real “National Style” was also born: the Hungarian Art Nouveau. Among these beautiful edifices you will get the chance to admire Gresham Palace, the Hungarian National Treasury, the Museum of Applied Arts, and much more than you could ever find in a guidebook. A coffee stop with marvelous Art Nouveau scenery is also included in the tour. To start the tour, meet your private guide at a previously arranged place (your hotel, apartment, or any other spot in the city). Since it is a customized tour, the route may vary according to the meeting point, although the best spot to start this tour is the Museum of Applied Arts, the masterpiece of Ödön Lechner who is often referred to as the Hungarian Gaudí. Following a pleasant walk take a short tram ride back to the city center where most of our famous Art Nouveau buildings can be found. After having observed several modern constructions of the style around Váci street, pop into the Gresham Palace to enjoy the luxurious atmosphere of the past and the present. Reaching Liberty Square, you can’t miss taking a coffee break in the House of Hungarian Art Nouveau that has a private collection of the time. Finally, explore the square as all of the buildings are from the same period. Last but not least admire the Hungarian State Treasury and its unforgettable rooftop that is invisible from street level nevertheless you will get close to it.Includes
