Description
The Blues&Whites of Budapest MTK Budapest Football Club, also known as the Blues-Whites of Budapest, has been an inspiration to football loving people all over Hungary for more than a century. By winning 23 Hungarian League trophies and 12 Hungarian cups, it comes second only to arch-rival Ferencváros at the all-time Hungarian Football Hall of Fame. MTK’s home has always been the Hidegkuti Nándor Stadium, located in central Budapest. The historic building which had served us for 7 decades (1947-2014) was replaced by our new arena at the same property, inauguranted in 2016. The new Hidegkuti Nándor Stadium has a capacity of 5,000 and servers as home of MTK’s business facilities. MTK Budapest rents the stadium, which is owned by the Government of Hungary. The facility carries the name and memory of Nándor Hidegkuti, legendary foward not only of MTK Budapest but the world famous „Magical Magyars” national team which won silver medal at he 1954 FIFA World Cup, and which defeated England at the „Game of the Century” at Wembley, in 1953. Hidegkuti, wearing the No.9 jersey, scored a hat-trick in the game. Hungary’s „Golden Team” featured 3 further MTK players at the time. The ceremonial opening game of the new stadium took place in October 2016, against Sporting Club de Portugal, recreating the epic historic duel between the two teams in the 1964 Finals of the UEFA Cup Winners’s Cup. The pitch of the new Hidegkuti Nándor Stadium was the very first one in the CEE region installed with the hybrid ’’Desso’’ grass (type Grassmaster)- modeled upon examples such as Anfield road, the Old Trafford, or San Siro. The outstanding, suberbly economic LED lighting system of the stadium features 214 individual Schreder-Tungsram lights. Beside the Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium, the new Hidegkuti Nándor Stadium was the first worldwide to use LED lights and hybrid pitch technologies simultaneously. This New Stadium has 33 boxes at two sides, on two floors (+4 technical boxes as well) which serve as places of live game enjoyment and business meetings. One box fits about 10-12 persons.Includes
